Locals go to 2nd and Broadway in Santa Monica.

Visitors take the 4th Street exit off of the 10W, then use public parking on 2nd street.  Leave after 1am and parking is free, because the employees get sleepy and leave the gate open. 

Speaking from experience, always park in public parking. Always!
